Today I am writting to all of you to tell you about a project that is very close to my heart. I want to help my dear friends Katie and Brian to realize their vision.
The two travelled to Kenya in 2010 and worked with orphans in a little village for 2 months. Since then they have been on the road with their veggie-oil-van playing concerts all over the US to raise money to feed the kids and save money to build a school. They iniciated a side-project called Art4Africa. It so far was an auction based project featuring one artist´s work every month.
Now I want to help them to take it to the next level. We want to create a homepage for Art4Africa where artists can donate their works that then will be sold for a fixed price (decision of the artist). All the money raised goes directly to the Tito family in Kenya that currently is feeding 41 orphans and will be responsible for the realization of Ne'ema Academy, builing the school and creating side-businesses that will help sustain the school (orchards, solar powered internet cafe...). All administrative costs are kept below 5%.
I met the two again this month to tour through the US with them for bit. They are wonderful people that simply live for their vision.
Now we want to find artists that would be willing to contribute art to the project and promote it once it is online.
So today is just a general question if you would be interested to help us with your art.
Already a small drawing can make a big difference for the children of Rusinga Island.
